How did I end up being a student at 31?
Well, it’s a good question. Actually it’s only been 3 months now that I have started. I’m still learning the basics of design.
But I’ll tell you. I’ve always been an art person
When I was younger I’d always be the one in my family drawing mandalas and kolam. I loved mixing colors, finding new shapes, etc.
Then, growing up, I changed my mind and went for teaching. I tried the job for some time – I was working with young kids. But it didn’t really fit me. Sometimes you can feel you don’t belong. Well, it was like that. So I decided to act on it.
Even though I was sure of myself, it took quite some time to warm up my parents to the idea of me turning my life upside down . But eventually, they let me quit and start over. I left home at 30 after a short pause and here I am, attending design courses! It’s quite intense, we have to practise all the time.
I don’t really mind. It feels good being creative again
I just have to get used to the fact that I’m not a worker anymore. I’m back to being a student relying on family support. There is one other thing though. You know, people I’m studying with are younger, they’re not that mature so, sometimes, it’s hard to relate… gets a bit lonely.
It’s odd, but it will fall in place, I’m sure of it. I just have to give it some time.
